NO UPDATES FOR A WHILE DOOOHH
Here is some pics that I forgot to put up, from months ago
Woo wooo a temporary demo reel is now up!
UPDATE: Just sold two TF2 hats for $550 USD
Have been quite busy with freelance work, so that’s been eating up most my time lately!
Following up on Team Fortress hats and the value of rare ‘unusual’ hats, someone made me an offer I couldn’t refuse for my Fedora with Purple Energy (rare Spy hat) ; He offer Proffessional’s Panama (rare Sniper Hat) + Bill’s Hat (L4D2 preorder hat, although not rare), and…. A steam game of my choice!
So I asked for Fallout: New Vegas
, since Fallout is awesome. It was especially cool since due to Australian regional pricing, New Vegas costs $89 to buy on steam (but is $50 in the US). I don’t think it’s bad to buy or sell virtual items for real life goods /cash though – since you are paying for all the work of obtaining those items. I’ll gladly pay real life money for items that would take me unfeasible hours to obtain.
The real winners, aside from valve, are the guys and gals who made user-contributed hats. At first, the polycount competition was just a fun contest to get a pack of items into the game (Valve was going to chose the most fitting ones and pop them ingame, the winners getting a bunch of neat valve swag). However, the micro-transactions thing was a huge surprise and Valve gives a generous 25% of the profits to the hat makers – leading to HUGE HUGE SUMS OF MONEY. OH GAWD I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THIS.
Also!! HOLY SHIT I added a MEL SCRIPTS page. Not much on there yet, but slowly I will add stuff.
For now I added my handy lil shrink wrap GUI:
Keep ‘convert to sRGB’ unticked in the ‘save for web’ options in photoshop… or it’ll try and do some crazy color compensating :O

Rawr I’ve been distracted by lots of other stuff!
Some freelance work
Been doing some freelance rigging. Lots of random bits and pieces! e.g. gulaku – ‘I love sugar‘
I’ll post more as they finish em and get em to me!
Being a zerg in SC2
I’m learning how to play Starcraft2!
I played the first one 12 years ago as a youngin’ and got steamrolled online. Ever since then I’ve been too traumatized to play RTS games.
But now that SC2 is out, it’s a good time to learn. Yes yes I’ve had my ass handed to me, but have also had some good wins too, thanks to all the great commentators on youtube I actually have a chance at learning this game (slowwly) ! Zerg is also considered to be the harder race to learn, since some small mistakes can potentially cost you the game (or at least moreso than the other races), since zerg in SC2 is by far the most reactionary race. Also, Hydra are expensive and Tier2, and get OMGBBQPWNT by tanks and collusus and only have the DPS and health of 2 stimmed marines *sigh*. Mutas are still quite bad ass though.
I WAS TOO LAZY TO TAKE A SCREENSHOT SO HERE IS A MUTALISK FROM TEH SC2 SITE
Acquiring fancy hats in Team Fortress 2
Valve added trading, and now also super rare hats into TF2. Thus I have traded my MANY MANY MANY HATS for some of these super rare ones.
Here are mine so far:
Also they added microtransactions into the game, which is interesting. To give an indication of the difficulty of acquiring these hats:
You randomly gain around 7 or so items a week by playing, one of which may be a crate. There’s so many items in the game that you might only get like one crate per week or fortnight or so. It costs $2.50 to buy a key to open a crate. Now, the chances of getting an unusual hat from a crate is 2.6% ( http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Crate ) let’s be lazy and round that off to 2% and say 1/50 chance. If it costs $2.5 for a key, then it’ll cost you around $125 to buy 50 keys. Then, factor in all the shit you had to trade to even get 50 crates, making any single unusual hat the most goddamn expensive single thing you could hope to forcefully purchase in TF2 :O Or, you could trade hats for them… many, many hats.
Also, You have probably seen the brilliant Meet the Spy trailer a while ago! But, Why is this so funny?
Whoa, What’s this?
Also, this is from 2 years ago, but Warrior’s Way trailer is finally out! http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thewarriorsway/
What’s this?

oh boy oh boyy
It’s just prefference, but I personally really like the feel of the MS gaming stuff a bit more than the razer/logitech stuff I’ve used… or at least in mice, anyway. (compared to razer lachesis and logitech g5, I like my MS Sidewinder X5 mouse more ;D ALTHOUGH I do wish I had this mouse.) , Plus, as you might expect, MS are good at writing drivers that are rock solid under their own OS (esp. compared to my razer lachesis which actually required a firmware update because it would skip occassionally, a bug with early models). I usually don’t invest too much in keyboards, cuz I always see how trashed my old ones get, but this time around I wanted to try something a bit more fancy. Plus, more buttons for macros to help me be lazy in SC2
Anyways! The feel of the keys is noticeably firmer and nicer than the $20 keyboard I was using previously, and as always back-lit keys make you feel badass. The Keypad is totally detachable, so I can remove it to save desk space, nice (It can also be attached onto the left side of the keyboard too and all its keys can be assigned to macros. The lights change color when set to macro mode too
There’s alot of buttons for macros, and there is on-the-fly macro recording. So I can setup a macro for building all my common units, and if I change my build midgame I could quickly setup a quick macro to train hydralisks for instance. HOT DAWG! I really should just learn not to rely on macros and just get accustomed to the hotkey combination in SC2, but say my hatchery is assigned to group 4 (and I’m using the Grid hotkey layout), I still need to press 4QQ to build a drone. Not a big deal yeah? What if I needed to build 60 drones, which is pretty common… why that’s 180 goddamn key presses already!
There’s some other minor functions stuff like ‘cruise control’ if you want it to hold down a key for you, which might be handy if ur AFK in TF2 and don’t want to get afk kicked, I guess?
